Just can’t resist NARS and it’s beautiful packaging ♥
This mascara comes with a plastic wand which is curved and contains short bristles and long bristles which allows the formula to be evenly applied on each individual lash. This has a wet formula so if you don’t prefer wet formulas this might not be the one for you. It is supposed to be volumizing, but to be completely honest, it did not impress me because I do find that there are better mascaras, like the MAC Haute and Naughty Too Black Lash ( click here if you want to know more about it!), that give tons of volume. This mascara does hold a curl all day, and does not smudge under my eyes like some mascaras do. This mascara gives you very separated and lengthened lashes, kind of like how your lashes look after you wash your face. Overall, I like this mascara as an everyday mascara, and would not prefer this for a dramatic, night-out kind of mascara.
This mascara is available in Jeddah at City Plaza.
Hello my beautiful TLT readers!
Today I wanted to share with you 2 products that have completely changed me skin. My skin used to be really dull and lifeless and just lacked luminosity. It got to the point that every time I looked at my skin, I was just really disappointed. I had these two products from Clarins, the Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner and the Vital Light Serum and decided that maybe I should give them a try. I started to use the toner every other day and the serum every day after cleansing my face before going to bed. After just 2 weeks, my skin was glowing and luminous and full of life and the dark spots on my skin (due to breakouts) were considerably lighter. My skin tone was evened out and texture of my skin was soft and smooth. My skin was looking so good that once a friend of mine complimented that “my makeup was looking good” when I wasn’t wearing any makeup that day at all. No foundation, no concealer, nothing. I think it was the combination of the exfoliation from the toner that allowed the serum to penetrate deep into my skin. In fact, after using serum, I looked up what it claims to do-
“What it is formulated to do:
Clarins pioneers a new frontier of skin science with a supercharged serum that defies the signs of aging in just two weeks. This triple-action complex of Hexylresorcinol, a tripeptide, and pioneer plant extracts helps correct the appearance of dark spots while visibly lifting, firming, and restoring the deep luminosity of young-looking skin. This serum works best with Vital Light Day or Vital Light Night.”
-and it just did what it was supposed to. Well, I don’t really need the lifting or firming, but it for sure restored the deep luminosity of my skin. The serum is so lightweight, it didn’t aggravate my oily skin and just penetrated right into the skin. I’m so impressed, I don’t think I’m ever going to without these products again.
Summer has finally come..well Summer is a year round season here but it is way hotter now..(you know what I mean if you live here in Jeddah). With the hot weather comes out our summer beauty and summer appropriate wardrobe. I’ve picked out my favorite summery bits that make this heat a bit more bearable.
I’ve been loving these Tory Burch flip flops which I got from the Tory Burch store here in Jeddah (similar here). They are just perfect when the weather is too hot and wearing closed shoes isn’t a feasible option in the scorching heat. They are really comfortable to walk in as are they really beautiful.
Since it is way too hot, I like to just spritz on the very light and fresh Victoria’s Secret fragrance mist instead of wearing full on perfumes. I have an assortment of fragrance mists from Victoria’s Secret, but currently I’ve been using the Be Seduced one which smells kind of sweet, but really really good!
What is summer without a pastel color on the nails? I love the Barry M nail polish in Berry. It is a pastel purple-lilac shade that is a perfect summer appropriate color. There is just something about freshly painted nails that brings a smile to my face-especially if it is a pastel.
The palette is made of cardboard which is disappointing coming from a high-end brand because it can easily get damaged. It also does not come with the mirror which was a unfortunate surprise. The palette contains six shades-three in the top row and three in the bottom row.
The top row shades consist of: Vanilla, Banana and Sand (L-R)
The bottom row shades consist of: Java, Fawn and Havana (L-R)
All of the shades are matte except for the Sand which is a really pretty champagne highlight. It has no visible chunks of glitter and is finely milled. Banana is a self-explanatory yellow shade and Vanilla is a cream colored shade used for highlighting and adding light to selected part of the face.
The bottom row has Fawn which is standard neutral contour shade, and two warm shades Java and Havana which could be used as bronzers to add some warmth to the skin.
This is a really great palette to have in your collection if you are into the whole contoured look or if you are a makeup fiend like myself. For girls who can’t be bothered with contouring, might find smaller palettes like the Smashbox contour palette more suitable. It all really depends on personal preference.
I am definitely not one of those people who are blessed with wonderful sculpted cheekbones that you see on models. That’s why I’m always on the hunt for anything that will temporarily give me those chiseled cheeks, and thus I came across the Sleek Contour Kit. Nowadays many companies are putting out their contour kits with a bronzer, a contour shade, a banana shade, a highlight shade etc. you know what I’m taking about. For beginners those kind of contour kits might seem overwhelming or if you’re not that much into contouring all that might seem excessive. The Sleek contour kit is perfect for the beginners or for someone who just needs a basic contour shade and highlight shade. Sleek Contour Kit comes in three shades: a light, medium and dark. I picked up the medium one since I am NC 35, but I could have gotten away with the light one as well. The contour shade is matte, very heavily pigmented and not orange at all. What I love about this is that it is so blendable that even a beginner can easily work with this. The highlight shade is a beautiful golden highlight. It is gorgeous. It’s pigmented, not filled with obvious glitter. It’s a very subtle highlight which I love and one that won’t make you look like a disco ball. I recommend this to everyone who wants something basic or someone who’s a beginner and who’s trying to learn how to do a basic contour.
Sleek Makeup Products are available in Jeddah at Whites (Haifa Mall). The Contour Kit is for 49 SR.
I’ve been wearing my MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation as an everyday base, but I’ve been finding it too heavy for going to classes or the hospital during the week. I wanted something lightweight from the drugstore and so I picked the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream.
The CC cream is runny and very lightweight. It has a light coverage, but it is buildable to medium coverage. It cancels out all the redness on my skin and gives me a bright and dewy finish perfect for when my skin is not looking it’s best. The most important thing about this base is that it does NOT break me out because my skin is so sensitive and everything breaks me out. Although the formula is pretty wet, you still need to put on a moisturizer before applying this because it does cling to the dry patches on the face which is not pretty (been there, done that…unfortunately!). I have an oily T-zone so I do have to powder my skin after this otherwise the oil seeps up onto the surface. The only negative about this is the packaging. It comes in a squeezy tube with a screw lid, and I find that it can get really messy and much prefer it if it came with a pump. However, I really love this product so I’m willing to overlook the packaging. For shade reference, I am NC 35 at MAC and shade 33 suits me perfectly well.
You can get this at Whites and City Plaza for about 68 SR.
If you see my makeup collection, you’re going to find a variety of blushes that are all different shades of pink, so when I first got this blush, I didn’t know how I felt about it. I’m the type of girl who always wears pink blush leaving this blush, Lovejoy by MAC unused. One day, I discovered Mimi Ikonn on YouTube and I fell in love with her makeup. She typically wears the same type of makeup in every single video. On her cheeks, she has this bronzy glowy blush or bronzer which I just instantly fell in love with and I immediately opened my makeup collection to find something similar, and that’s when I figured that Lovejoy would be perfect to imitate Mimi’s look.
Lovejoy is so hard to describe because it’s one of those blushes that has a mix of colors. It it is bronze but it does have some pink in it, some red undertones and golden glitter running through it which is really pretty as a blush but it also gives some definition to the cheeks which I could use. The golden glitter surprisingly is not chunky so I don’t mind it on the face. It compliments olive and tan skin tones very well, but it can work for lighter skin tones if used very lightly because it is dark. I’ve been loving this blush so much and I can’t get enough of it! If you’re wondering where to find MAC stores here in Jeddah, there is one on Tahlia Street.
Concealers are just one of those products that could make you look like “Help, I need coffee, STAT!” to “I woke up like this”. It is a necessity in all makeup bags because it just helps you look a little more alive during the day. Two of my favorite inexpensive concealers are the Maybelline Fit Me and the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream (too long of a name isn’t it?). Both of them are quite similar in terms of coverage in that both of them have a very light coverage so they won’t be able to cover some hardcore dark circles. However, because they both have a light formula, they are so easy to blend you don’t even need a brush, fingertips are enough. Both of them are one of those slap-it-on-and-get-on-with-your-day kind of product. It is perfect for the everyday natural look which I am a huge fan of and that’s why I love them both so much. The light formula of this is just perfect for the hot and sweaty weather that we have here in Jeddah because very heavy products can be just too much in this weather. The only problem with this product is it does crease in the lines under the eyes, but a swipe of powder can just solve that problem so it’s not that much of an issue. I love both of these concealers and it’s perfect for those of you who want a lightweight formula with a light coverage.
There are tons and tons of lipstick shades to chose from, all the way from nudes, your lips but better, and the ones that are like “Hello, look at me and my beautiful bold lips”. I think, as woman we all agree that the more lipsticks, the merrier. However, there are two lipsticks that every woman should have in her makeup bag: the nude and the bold. My favorite holy grail nude lipstick is the NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Bangkok. Bangkok is this warm toned pink-y nude that just blew me away. I want to buy like a few backups just in case one day, it suddenly gets discontinued. It’s perfect to pair with a smokey eye, it will take you through work, through lunches, or it’s perfect for a girls day out. On the opposite end of the spectrum is MAC’s Rebel. Now this one is a cult favorite for a reason. It is this gorgeous purple-y bold lip color that looks good on everyone. Bold lips are the perfect way to seem “put together” when you’re really not in the mood to look presentable but have to anyway (you know what I mean?) Also, this one is great for those down days, I don’t know what it is about bold lips that just makes you feel instantly better, right ladies?
